Replacing a rusted fire pump inlet

The fire pump inlet on a fire main had rusted through. We took it out and fitted a new assembly.

What needed doing

The fire pump inlet on the fire main was corroded in several places: body, fittings and connecting pipe.

What we did

We removed the old assembly and fitted a new inlet, with its valves and galvanised fittings back to the main, in the same pit.

The result

The fire main has a sound inlet again, in its place and ready for use. Routine servicing of the fire equipment stays with whoever is contracted for it.
