Geothermal: the heat beneath your feet
A ground-source heat pump exchanges heat with the ground, which stays at a steady temperature all year. It heats in winter and can cool in summer.
How it works, briefly
A few metres down, the ground temperature barely changes between summer and winter. A heat pump uses that stability to heat or cool your home with modest electricity use.
The ground loops are drilled by specialist firms. We take care of the building services side: heat pump, plant room, connections, distribution, commissioning and maintenance.
Worth knowing before you decide
Up-front cost
Drilling and ground loops make the initial cost higher than for an air-source heat pump.
Space and permits
You need room for the boreholes and, often, approval from the local authorities.
Lifespan
Ground loops last a long time; the heat pump itself needs regular servicing like any other.
When it makes sense
We talk it through case by case: it depends on the building, the ground and how you use your home.
Our part
Ground-source heat pump
Installing the unit and its accessories, chosen to suit the building.
Plant room and connections
Connecting to the ground loops laid by the drilling firm, buffer tanks, circulators, valves.
Distribution
The system that carries heating and cooling to each room, new or adapted to the existing one. See heating and cooling.
Commissioning and maintenance
Start-up, adjustment and routine checks over time. Monitoring can run through KNX.

What happens when you get in touch
I’m Daniele Lantieri, managing partner and technical lead at LantierImpianti. Here’s what happens after you call or send a message.
I speak fluent English. From the first call to the end of the job, we handle everything in English: site visit, quote, works, and explaining every document you receive.
You’ll speak to me
I answer the phone myself. If I’m on site, I’ll call you back as soon as I can: before the evening or the next morning.
Tell me what’s going on, in your own words
You don’t need the technical terms — that’s our job. Just tell me what you can see or what isn’t working. A photo helps if you have one.
I tell you what I’d do
For a small job, we agree a day. For bigger work, I come and take a look and then send you a written quote. The site visit for a quote is free.
You decide, in your own time
Calling or writing commits you to nothing. Take the time you need, and feel free to get other opinions.
